After getting used to cooking in a commercial sized kitchens in college, there are a few things I’ve picked up that have completely transformed the way I cook at home. One of these details is using a high quality chef’s knife for just about everything. The only problem is that a true high quality chef’s knife is pricey and not something everyone feels ready to jump into. It’s a good thing that the guys from Misen in Brookyln, New York decided to change the inflation of knife prices.

This knife from Misen is like other knives you’ve used but also totally unique. They use steel with a higher amount of carbon to make it sharper and hold it’s sharpness for longer. On top of that Misen offers free sharpening for life! Plus the knifes are totally symmetrical so they work for both righties and lefties.

J. Kenji López-Alt of SeriousEats.com did an in depth full review of the knife and even went to far as to say that it held up to his $180 Misono UV-10 and his $120 Wüsthof knifes. And furthermore called it “the holy grail of inexpensive chef’s knives.” To read his full review click here

These three friends shared their modest vision on Kickstarter, and have gone on to become the fourth most funded food project in Kickstarter history. Their over 10,000 backers can’t be wrong! For backing their project with $55 you’ll receive one of the first Misen Knives, that’s $10 less then they’ll be selling for retail. There are only a few more days to get your Misen knife at the discounted price, so head over now! Misen Knife Kickstarter
